Although I have been using WordPress for a few years I am new to WordPress.com. I have been hosting my WordPress blog on a server at home (Mac mini). The mini performs fine and I like having control over hardware and software but the upload speed over cable can be a bit slow at times so I am going to compare my self-hosted site with the free WordPress site. I imported my blog but deleted the posts as I had customized my own blog and the importing process created a number of broken links. Now I am stuck with Archives that point to nowhere and I haven’t discovered a way to delete them. Without access to the database I am at a loss at how to delete the content of the archive table.
Strange, the archive problem seems to have corrected itself!
Archives are the bane of my existence. From The Dead Mule to Mental Kudzu — it seems they are never quite right because I keep updating my WordPress edition… but I still like WordPress over any other blogging software.
